4 Quick Ways to Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Depending on what day your kids go back to school, summer holidays are about half over now. If you were hoping to sell your house before they start packing their backpacks up with books and pencils, here are a few quick ways for you to boost your curb appeal and entice potential buyers to open up the door and see inside.

Beautify Your Front Door

Speaking of front doors, yours is a great place to start sprucing up. There are a few ways you can upgrade your door:

• You can paint it a bright colour.
• Add some accessories like an ornate door knocker or wreath.
• Or you can replace it with a newer, nicer-looking door.

The main thing is to remember you want your front door, like everything else in this list, to reflect the aesthetic of your home’s interior. You don’t want to promise potential buyers one thing with the outside of your house and then disappoint them with a completely different look on the inside. One example of matching the interior and exterior appearances is to paint your door blue if you have blue accents scattered throughout your house. It’s also a good idea to wash dirt off the knobs and grease the hinges so they swing open silently.

A Little Symmetry Goes A Long Way

Once you’ve fixed up your front door so it makes a statement, you’ll want to frame it. Some ways to do this are having matching light fixtures or identical potted plant features on either side of the door to draw potential buyers’ eyes in.

You’ll also want to make sure that the railings look nice and that you fix up any areas with chipped paint.

Even if you don’t have a green thumb, you can probably maintain a garden for a month. Pick out some pretty pots and some plants, and arrange them in oddly numbered clusters near the front of your home. Unlike the doorway, it’s okay if your plants aren’t symmetrical. So, if you have a country-home feel inside with lots of wooden décors, pick out a wall basket wreath to hand on your door or a barn wood bench to nestle in between some of your potted plants.
